Top Ten Reasons Why Burlington is NOT Vermont

  • There aren’t many real, native Vermonters living there.
  • People from the Northeast Kingdom vacation “way down” in Burlington.
  • Ethan Allen’s monument is here but he was a flatlander.
  • Because Phish’s last concert was in Coventry.
  • There are no holsteins or chainsaws anywhere to be seen.
  • People from Burlington think the “Logger” is what a real Vermonter would be like.
  • Burlington folk drink pricy bottled water. Real Vermonters get there’s free…from the tap!
  • The Queen City has the highest per capita weirdo count in the state.
  • No real Vermont town would vote for a mayor that wants to turn their town into a sanctuary for criminals.
  • McDonald’s closed and left downtown Burlington. McDonalds never leaves anywhere (except Stowe, which ain’t really Vermont either!).

We’re from Worcester, Mass. We love Burlington, VT and disagree with your list. For us, Burlington and Stowe are the REAL Vermont, not the woodchuck communities with those ugly trailer parks and falling down barns that we see along I-91.
      Sox Rock!!!

    2. Verna Weed says:

Poor Benny! Sounds to me as if he should stay in Mass. I bet if he would travel around his state, he will find those “ugly trailer parks” and maybe a few “falling down barns” there, also. We had a real Vermont until the “Flatlanders” invaded. Now, thanks to the liberals, we have such cities such as Burlington turning into the cities that the “Flats” are leaving because they are sick of them!!
      Long live the “Woodchucks” !!!

I think the post was meant in jest. Why are u guys arguing about it? I got a chuckle out of it! Lighten up.

    4. The VT Woodchuck! says:

Better than David Letterman’s top 10 list!
Add Manchester and Woodstock to that list too.
Maybe Brattleboro too but I’m not sure if it’s our native “chucks” or friends from Mass. running around there nekkid!!!
