Journey To A Vermont Junkyard!
No Vermont Life photo ops here! Like it or not, just like cow manure, lumbermills and sweaty loggers this Vermont is just as real as the pristine white churches and million dollar homes in Burlington.

Back in the 70's, the family used to jump in the car and take a Sunday ride down the River Road from Newport to Orleans. Every kid knew about Rock's Junkyard. Just a few miles up the road is the B&W Snackbar. Another area landmark very well known to generations of locals. Much neater too!

Most likely "politically incorrect" these days. Years ago, one of the biggest sporting events in the Northeast Kingdom was shooting rats in the junkyards.

This photo reminds me just a tad of "Green Acres". It's probably the building in the back. Kind of expect Eva Gabor to come around the corner chasing Arnold the pig.

The locals (and probably some of the transplants) have decided "enough is enough" and are trying to come up with a plan to clean up the ever expanding sea of junk. Probably not a bad idea. The monster in Memphremagog is a bunch of hooey but this beast is for real!

Yes, this is pretty sad but you know what is even sadder? The loss of Vermont farms and those manure perfumed farmers, local Mom & Pop general stores and each town no longer having enough jobs to support their own.
But that's ok because many native Vermonters can't afford to live here anymore anyway!
I wonder what the Rock's are paying for taxes on this little swampside oasis?
