Vermont County Fairs in Decline?

With the economy slowing to a grind and businesses everywhere taking a hit, some people are wondering how it will affect the county fairs held in Vermont at the end of every summer. Seems that some of the traditional rides such as the ferris wheel were not in attendance at the Orleans County Fair this year. The Champlain Valley Fair is just around the corner. Is it the economy or are county fairs in general just plain "not what they used to be"? Read the Vermont county fairs article and post your thoughts. Free admission for everyone!

Vermont Country Stores - Part of the Vermont Landscape

Vermont country stores are part of the charm of Vermont, every bit as recognizable as the famous red barns and country church spires. Forgotten Tales of Vermont Now in Bookstores

Forgotten Tales of VermontIf you like all the strange, offbeat ghost stories, just plain weird stuff and quirky touches of Vermont history, contained within Vermonter.com, then you'll want to grab a copy of the new book coming out this summer. The title is Forgotten Tales of Vermont and it's available at Barnes & Noble, Borders and Amazon.com. Many thanks to Aimee DeCapria at Barnes & Noble in South Burlington for the book signing invitation and support!

The book contains many of the stories that have been posted at this website for years along with many new articles and stories that are exclusive to the book. We dug high and low for some of the best known (and not so well known) myths and legends throughout Vermont and compiled them all in Forgotten Tales of Vermont. Also, check out the newly renovated Vermont books page for other great books by Vermont authors, Scott Wheeler and Joe Citro.
